The role of Dhaka Customs Agents Association can hardly be over- emphasized in the ever-growing pressure of the national economy of Bangladesh; Chittagong is the premier part of Bangladesh. About 80% of the Sea- borne trade are being handled by this port.

Since the 1st quarter of 2004 a good response from the business community has been observed in joining the freight forwarding trade. The total no. of membership of this association is now more than 600.

The term of Executive Committee expired in February’05. As per Memorandum and Articles of Association, the process of election of EC is required to be started 90 days prior to the date of election. And as per new govt. order the charge of the association is to be handed over to the newly elected EC in a general meeting. And as such the last EC for 2003-2004 of the association took all necessary steps for holding election of EC for 2005-2006. They appointed Election Board and Election Appeal Boards. These two boards took all necessary measures to hold election of EC. In this way the new EC for 2005-2006 was formed. In the early part of February’05 the new Executive Committee took over charge of the association ceremoniously in a general meeting.
